Nintendo fans from all walks to life came together at Military Island, Times Square on November 12th to celebrate Mario's return in Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS, here in New York City. They were treated with one of a kind Nintendo merchandise (Tanooki tail, tanooki ears, Mario moustaches), a chance to run around in Mario's 3D world (both in-game and in real life), a guaranteed slice of free mushroom pizza (after tweeting with the #SuperMario3D hashtag) and also, an early sale of the game to those wishing not to wait any longer for Mario on their 3DS. Of those people in line, our friend TriForce GameMaster was in first - not only there just to wait for the game, but also to aid in the collection of non-perishable canned items of food for our food drive this month, which will be donated to City Harvest, an organization which helps to feed New Yorkers who are needy. (More info in our food drive PSA here - www.youtube.com We also had our special Super Mario Bros. 3 inspired treasure chest game, where we offered people who bought the game early a chance to win a Mario 3-themed perler bead sprite necklace of their choice, ranging from notable items like 1UP mushrooms to Mario in Kuribo's Shoe. In all, the event was a major success in terms of the awareness brought up for the StreetPass NYC group.
