Buttermilk fried chick, mac-n-chees casserole and homemade, garden-fresh green bean casserole. MMM MMM. Every once in a while, even we dieters deviate from our strict regime of totally healthy foods and seek out the good stuff. Please note that I tried to reduce the fat where I could. Note the cream of mushroom soup used in the green bean casserole. Not only does it have 16 ingredients like the canned stuff, it doesn't have the fat traditional homemade stuff has either - 2-3 cups of cream and nearly a stick of butter!. In the poultry capital of the world, one must know how to prepare chicken. took a whole chicken, cut it up and marinated it in a buttermilk and salt brine for 8 hours. I coated it with a mixture of flour , cornmeal and seasonings; fried it and well the rest is history. It was tender, juicy and flavorful. It got gone in a hurry. The homemade mac-n-chees, which was enough for 8, was served to 4 and little to any was left by the end of the night. These side happen to be perfect sides for fried chicken. The meal was satisfying, uncomplicated, and didn't take all night to prepare. Victory. Y'all come on back you here.

In addition to being boiled for canning jams and pickles, they can also be baked in the oven and I like to use them to make adorable portable cakes in a jar. Start with two and one half cups of fresh seasonal fruit. Put those into four, half pint, canning jars. Combine one half cup of flour, one half cup of sugar and one half teaspoon salt. Whisk it together with a fork and pour it on the fruit and then top with butter. Once your jars are filled, move them to a square baking dish. Fill the inside of the baking dish with some dried beans to keep the jars from sliding around. Bake it at 350 for one hour. After baking, let the jars cool completely. A great dip recipe for a party, crowd or any get together. If you do not care for blue cheese, you can substitute ranch dressing for the blue cheese. You can use canned chicken, if you prefer or if you are in a hurry and don't have time to cook the chicken. 3-4 boneless chicken breasts or 2 cans of chicken 16 ounces cream cheese 16 ounce bottle blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing ½-3/4 cup hot sauce 8 ounces of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Salt and pepper, to taste Boil the chicken breasts in a sauce pan with enough water to cover. When cooked completely, remove the chicken and shred with a fork. Put the chicken in a large baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Pour desired amount of hot sauce over the chicken, season with salt and pepper and stir to mix. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350°. Over medium heat, melt the cream cheese and then pour in the blue cheese dressing and stir until completely melted and combined. Pour this mixture over the chicken mixture. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the top and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and starting to brown a bit. How do you avoid this poison? Buy beef that has come from grass fed cows, which can be found at natural and organic grocery stores and your local farmers market. No matter the size of your town or city, grass fed beef (real beef) is not out of reach. Unlike ammonia treated beef, grass fed beef is clearly labeled and contains no ammonia.

Place in a small oven-proof casserole dish, and bake at 350 degrees (F) for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cover with a topping of marshmallows. How would you like to save one-third or even one-half on some of the grocery items you buy? You can do it, but you have to know where to look. KMBC's Jim Flink put some local stores to the test to see if he could buy items cheaper just by shopping around. Flink tested three different kind of stores -- Price Chopper, ALDI and Wal-Mart. His shopping list was simple: oat cereal, a can of corn, a box of macaroni and cheese, eggs, ravioli, bananas, bread and bacon. Flink only bought off-brands and always bought the cheapest item available. He did not use any in-store discounts or coupons. In some cases, the price difference was remarkable. For example, macaroni and cheese was 63 cents at Price Chopper, 50 cents at Wal-Mart and 33 cents at ALDI. Flink reported that ALDI was the low price leader on every item purchased. ALDI sold oat cereal for .49, at a savings of 35 cents. Canned corn sold at 39 cents, versus a high of 63 cents. And ALDI also sold a dozen eggs for .39 versus a high of .78 at Wal-Mart. The smallest savings found was for a can of ravioli, there was only an 11-cent differential. The greatest savings difference was in bacon, although the sizes and quality were clearly different between the ALDI bacon, which sold for .79, and the bacon from Price Chopper that rang in at .28, Flink reported. Greetings! Today I am showing you how I made my strawberry rhubarb jam! My friend katzcradul made some not too long ago and her recipe was a bit different from mine and some of you may not be familiar with her channel. If you are not, I highly recommend that you go look her up. I will leave a link below. This is jam at it's best. Sweet strawberries, tart rhubarb and love. They make the greatest combination. I have already made some this season, but had a second pulling of rhubarb and happened upon a nice deal on strawberries so the opportunity presented itself. I will now have a nice amount of jam to set back for holiday gift giving. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Eating!
